He spent his childhood and youth in the village of Wendisch-Rambow, also in Sachsen. Even though his family was educated, Till Lindemann had a difficult and traumatizing childhood because of his father. His father, Werner Lindemann was a very famous children’s book author. Because of his father’s strictness, they did not get along well and Lindemann was subjected to violence at home. It is said that Lindemann was often beaten by his father.

He was rejected by his coaches because he ran away from the hotel one night and because he received labels from his friends supporting Marxism. Shortly afterward, he suffered an injury, which ended his sports career in 1979.
At the age of 19, Lindemann left the boarding school and moved into his father’s house, but he didn’t last long there either. After a short time, he left him and moved into a friend’s house, and worked as a wood basket maker.
