Timothée Chalamet Portrays Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown”
The film that Bob Dylan fans have been eagerly awaiting has finally arrived. The trailer for “A Complete Unknown” was released yesterday.
Timothée Chalamet portrays Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biographical drama “A Complete Unknown.” The released trailer highlights Chalamet’s singing abilities.
In the trailer, we see Dylan embarking on a new adventure as he travels from Minnesota to New York. Never letting go of his guitar, pen, and small notebook, Dylan soon meets Joan Baez (played by Monica Barbaro), and a romantic relationship begins to blossom between them.
The trailer also features footage of the duo performing together at the 1963 Monterey Folk Festival. A love triangle emerges with the arrival of Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, a fictionalized version of Dylan’s girlfriend at the time, Suze Rotolo.
As Dylan grows increasingly frustrated with being typecast as the voice behind “Blowin’ in the Wind,” he changes his image and picks up an electric guitar for “Like a Rolling Stone.” This transformation causes conflict among Dylan’s fans; while some embrace the new direction, others accuse him of betraying folk music.
“A Complete Unknown” is written by Mangold and Jay Cocks, based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!” The cast includes Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Dan Fogler as Albert Grossman, and Will Harrison as Bob Neuwirth.
