But Stanley and Goff, the band’s guitarists, didn’t want to be tied to a label for too long and offered to make only one album.

Due to the disagreement between them, Goff and Stanley left the band. The remaining members were Thomas, Doucette and Yale. The trio reached an agreement with Atlantic records and decided to release 2 albums with the label.

They needed guitarists to replace Gold and Stanley. Atlantic Records filled this gap with Kyle Cook and Adam Gaynor and Matchbox 20 was formed. Matchbox 20 is also known as MB20.

The original band members of Matchbox 20 are Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Brian Yale, Kyle Cook and Adam Gaynor. Adam Geynor left Matchbox 20 in 2005.
